Objective
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
1.During the course, the medical resident acquires theoretical knowledge about the possible effects of the most frequently used IR medications on the patient’s health, will be able to define indications and contraindications for medication use, post-treatment follow-up and rehabilitation. Will know about the treatment of circulatory collapse, shock, clinical manifestations of hypersensitivity reactions, basic principles of treatment. Will have good knowledge of pharmacological agents: • Contrast agents • Local anaesthetics • Sedatives • Vasoactive agents • Drugs affecting blood clotting, incl. new oral anticoagulants • Medicines used to treat diabetes mellitus • Antihypertensive drugs • Statins • Antibiotics • Antiemetics
Skills
1.During the course, practical skills are developed in the use of medications and contrast agents.
Competences
1.After completing the course, the medical resident will be able to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills to modify drug therapy according to the needs of invasive manipulation, will be familiar with the indications, contraindications and side effects of drugs, basic principles of treatment of hypersensitivity reactions.

Preparation of presentations on pharmacology in interventional radiology, using recommended literature sources, with the evaluation and analysis thereof in practical classes. With the aim of learning about the problem and understanding it in more depth.

Assessment of medical residents’ knowledge includes current knowledge testing – seminars and practical training (30%), patient analysis (20%), multiple-choice tests and clinical situation tasks (50%). Testing of acquired knowledge with a differentiated assessment on a 10-point scale.
