Objective
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
1.1. To set out the clinical and radiological diagnostics of the injury. 2. To formulate the principles of provision of emergency medical assistance in the pre-hospital and casualty stage. 3. To define principles of sorting and evacuation of injured persons in mass accidents with a large number of victims.
Skills
1.1. To perform primary assessment of the injured person (ABCDE algorithm). 2. To use modes of transportation of the trauma patient according to the indications. 3. To perform transport immobilization of various types. 4. To use bandages. 5. To perform emergency bleeding control. 6. To perform primary wound treatment and to suture wounds. 7. To perform secondary examination of the injured patient. 8. To interpret radiological examination of the trauma patient. 9. To classify the victims by severity of the injury. Clinical skills: Field Level Title Primary assessment of trauma patient (ABCDE approach) Immobilization using splints (Cramers etc.) Immobilization using traction splints Neck immobilization using cervical collar Immobilization using vacuum mattress Pelvis immobilization using pelvis immobilization sling Patient transfer to spine board (rolling) Scoop stretcher usage Management of life-threatening bleeding (tamponade, bandages, tourniquet ) Immobilization using cast or other fixators
Competences
1.Ability to examine an injured patient, provide stabilisation of vital functions and provide emergency medical assistance in the pre-hospital and casualty stage before arrival of trauma surgeon.
