About Study Course

Objective

To familiarise students with principles of creating an audio-visual message; to explain goals and structure of different shows; to foster critical understanding about a documentary show and verbal and visual content of a news story; to promote visual thinking.

Preliminary Knowledge

Introduction to communication theories.

Knowledge

1.On completion of the study course students understand the principles of creation and interpretation of audio-visual messages and television shows.

Skills

1.On completion of the study course students create a news feature, can combine text and image in a story.

1.On completion of the study course students evaluate audio-visual messages and their contextual interpretations.

Reading compulsary literature; accomplishing three home assignments: 1) development of a news story, 2) comparing TV3 and LTV1 evening news broadcasts, 3) analyzing a documentary. Home work can be accomplished in groups of 2-4 students.
