About Study Course

Objective

To provide an opportunity to learn the planning, organisation, management of sightseeing tours and to become acquainted with the relevant laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia regarding the planning, organisation of sightseeing tours. To provide the opportunity to familiarise with the foundations of creation and implementation of sightseeing tours and guide’s work.

Preliminary Knowledge

Preliminary knowledge of professional Bachelor in general theoretical study courses and basic sector-specific theoretical courses.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.1. Understands the types of sightseeing tours, the basic principles of planning, organising and leading sightseeing tours, knows the legislation of the Republic of Latvia in relation to organising and leading sightseeing tours. 2. Understands the interaction between nature and the cultural environment. 3. Understands creation of a guide’s narrative, creation of location experience.

Skills

1.4. Knows how to choose a sightseeing tour route, sights and activities appropriate to the interests, age, fitness of the participants in the sightseeing tour. 5. Knows how to plan, organise and lead sightseeing tours.

Competences

1.6. Skilfully assesses and analyses a sightseeing tour as a recreational event and related problems. 7. Solves professional issues related to the planning, organisation and implementation of sightseeing tour’s as recreational events using the theoretical foundations and skills learned.
