About Study Course

Objective

To ensure and promote mastering of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in psychiatry for dermatology, venereology resident.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.The students have to know symptoms and syndromes of mental disorders, clinical signs and features of mental diseases. Psychopharmacological treatment, clinical effect and adverse reactions. Treatment of emergency conditions.The students will be able to interview patients and assess their condition at the level of symptoms and syndromes and to give differential diagnosis; to make diagnosis in emergency situations and give treatment. The students will be able to organize the care of a mentally ill patient, to solve ethical and legal issues and to carry out patient psychoeducation.

Skills

1.To be able to assess biological, mental and social aspects of patients’ problems. To be able to build doctor-patient relationships as a therapeutic factor using verbal and non-verbal communication techniques. To be able to apply effective communication elements.

Competences

1.After obtaining the certificate to be competent in working as a dermatologist and venereologist, to apply the knowledge acquired during the study process, to recognize and differentiate the skin and sexually transmitted diseases from other pathologies.

At the end of the study course the medical residents take a theoretical and practical examination, which is assessed with a grade. Presentation of the medical case history of the treated patients and assessment of their mental state.

Topics

General psychopathology. Special psychiatry - schizophrenia, affective disorders, psychiatric disorders due to somatic and organic diseases (special attention is paid to neurosyphilis). In-depth study of neurotic disorders (anxiety neuroses, somatoform disorders) and psychosomatic diseases and their connection with the clinical work of a dermatologist. Treatment of the mentioned disorders - psychopharmacotherapy. Antipsychotics. Antidepressants. Anti-anxiety medications. Normotics. Stimulators.
