About Study Course

Objective

To provide and enhance the theoretical knowledge and practical skills in pediatric abdominal surgery, per the pediatric surgical specialty’s requirements to prepare the doctor for certification in the specialty of pediatric surgery.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.- to define emergency abdominal surgical diseases and their indications for conservative or surgical treatment for children at various ages. - to make the examination and treatment plans for children with acute abdominal surgical diseases. - to orientate with diagnostic methods and instruments used in pediatric abdominal surgery, as well as the surgical treatment options and principles. To learn: • detailed theoretical knowledge of emergency surgical conditions at various ages in congenital and acquired surgical pathologies, as well as in acute and chronic surgical abdominal pathologies; • conservative and surgical treatment indications and their application in surgical emergencies of children at various ages with surgical abdominal pathologies; • diagnostic methods used in children's abdominal surgery, including instrumentation and apparatuses, and practical skills for diagnostic and therapeutic manipulation, as well as surgical treatment methods of practical use in pediatric patients with intra-abdominal organ surgical diseases; • to draw up the examination and treatment plan for patients with acute and chronic abdominal surgical diseases; • to be able to provide qualified assistance in acute surgical abdominal emergencies for children at various ages.

Skills

1.- To perform wound primary care, stitching of the wound, and to master tetanus prophylaxis. - To carry out the guidelines and protocols for emergency acute abdominal surgical illnesses.

1.- To provide qualified initial and emergency assistance for children of various ages with surgical pathology.
