About Study Course

Objective

To ensure acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in application of palliative care elements in geriatric and oncology care. To prepare a resident for application of palliative care elements by providing a possibility to acquire knowledge, skills and competences of palliative care in geriatric patients.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.-Palliative care principles in the patients with oncological and non-oncological diseases; -Relief of pain and other symptoms in elderly people withincurable diseases.

Skills

1.-Application of the palliative care elements; -drawing up of a pain management therapy plan; -planning of a dying patient care; - Work in a multidisciplinary team – discussion and analysis of clinical cases. -Communication with the relatives of a patient being in a serious condition.

Competences

1.-Is able to formulate a diagnosis, assess prognosis. -Plans the patient care by analysing the clinical situation, examination data. -Designation of pain relief therapy for patients with pain syndrome in palliative care.
