Skills

1.As a result of the study program acquisition, students will be able to identify pathology in the oral and maxillo facial region, if necessary, perform independent treatment or refer the patient to another specialist for appropriate procedures (pain and fear control, emergency care, extraction, intraoral incision, biopsy, minor dentoalveolar surgery). To communicate skillfully with the patient, his family members, as well as with other medical specialists.

Examination

10 points

• Active participation in practical classes; timely submission of well-executed written homework; quality of oral responses during each practical class. • Theoretical and practical skills assessment

• At the end of the course, there will be two cumulative examinations.

1.) The cumulative examination for the State examination. Integrated exam. State examination in oral and maxillofacial surgery together with oral pathology. Qualitative answers to 3 theoretical questions, recognition and analysis of X-rays, prescribing medication, recognition of surgical instruments and formulation of application (100%).

2.) At the study course student’s performance is evaluated in cumulative assessment. Total final grade is formed from the fulfilment of the following criteria with an appropriate proportion:

1. Class attendance - 15%

2. Attitude and communication to patients, staff and colleagues (classmates) - 10%

3. Performance in practical class and seminars - 15%

4. Course final exam - 60%

If the student has attended all classes, the score is 10. If one class is missed, the score is 5. If two classes are missed, the score is 0.

If the student continues his studies after missing two classes with the dean’s permission, then additional tasks must be completed.

Lecturers observe and assess students` communication skills and attitudes toward patients, lecturers, colleagues, and other personnel.
