About Study Course

Objective

To ensure the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to the child’s mental development, evaluation thereof and examination methods, as well as about the most common types of neurodevelopmental disorders, diagnosis thereof, treatment and rehabilitation.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.1. Will understand the stages of a child’s mental development. 2. Will understand the process of development of different mental functions (cognitive, social, emotional, moral, language, etc.) during childhood. 3. Will know and be able to apply basic clinical examination methods appropriately. 4. Will know and be able to recommend basic neuropsychological examination methods appropriately. 5. Will know the criteria for choosing the most appropriate diagnostic and differential diagnostic algorithm for certain central nervous system disorders, and where to find the latest algorithms and examination guidelines.

Skills

1.1. Will know how to correctly assess a child’s psychological development according to their age. 2. Will be able to choose the most appropriate diagnostic and differential diagnostic algorithm for certain nervous system disorders and to find the latest algorithms and examination guidelines.

Competences

1.Competence in age-appropriate assessment of child’s psychiatric development, diagnosis and differential diagnosis of developmental disorders of the nervous system, psychiatric care of children and adolescents in inpatient and outpatient settings. In cooperation with professionals of other specialties (clinical and health psychologists, audio speech therapists, etc.) and support staff, planning and implementing teamwork principles, as well as in interpersonal relations, ethical and legal issues, to ensure early recognition of developmental disorders of the nervous system, diagnosis, prevention, treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation.
