About Study Course

Objective

To evaluate the doctoral student's (1) ability to analyse and describe the developmental trends and regularities of modern psychology in a reasoned way, to formulate the problems of a certain topic in writing, using the scientific style, as well as to discuss these problems in a reasoned way; (2) the ability to explain and describe in an integrated way a certain topic of psychology orally, demonstrating an in-depth understanding of the issues of modern psychological theory and methodology, as well as to discuss this topic in a reasoned way; (3) understanding of the topic of the dissertation and the ability to present the concept of one's dissertation in a reasoned manner, in accordance with the requirements of modern science, as well as the ability to discuss the topic of the dissertation.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Analyses and describes the developmental trends and regularities of modern psychology. Formulates the problems of a certain topic in writing. Analyses, explains and describes a specific topic of psychology orally.

Skills

1.Demonstrates the ability to perform critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis of a specific topic. Demonstrates the ability to create a text using a scientific style. In discussion, demonstrates an in-depth understanding of the issues of modern psychological theory and methodology and the topic of his/her work.

Competences

1.Discusses in a reasoned way both in writing and orally the modern achievements of the science of psychology and outlines the concept of his/her work and discusses it in accordance with the requirements of modern science.

(1) To prepare for an oral narration (up to 10 minutes) on the topics of the history of psychology and modern psychology. Topics are available on e-studies. (2) To prepare a written outline on one of the current topics of modern psychology in the amount of 380-500 words, taking into consideration the latest achievements in the science of psychology. The question will be drawn by lot 24 hours before the examination from 10 previously prepared topics. (3) To prepare an introduction and bibliography of the doctoral thesis, and an oral presentation on the topic of the doctoral thesis.

The examination is assessed according to a 10-point grading system. The final mark is calculated as the arithmetic average of the answers of the 3 parts of the examination provided after hearing the doctoral student's answers and consideration by the commission. If the assessment is below 4, the examination is not passed.
