About Study Course

Objective

To improve the knowledge, skills and professional competences of students necessary to plan, organise, implement and evaluate the learning process in the field of learning “Health and physical activity” at different stages of education based on educational standards, principles of sports pedagogy and didactic, as well as taking into account aspects of individual development, health promotion and safety of pupils.

Preliminary Knowledge

Students need basic knowledge in sports science and pedagogy acquired in previous study courses, including:

  1. understanding the basic principles for the development of physical activity and physical characteristics;
  2. basic knowledge of human movement physiology and biomechanics;
  3. understanding the basic principles of pedagogy and sports didactics;
  4. understanding of the planning and organisation of the training process in sports classes;
  5. basic skills in demonstrating and conducting physical exercises.

The student shall prepare a reasoned essay in which he or she shall answer the student to the question: “Why should I come to school/sports and health class?” the essay analyzes the role of a sports and health lesson in a student’s physical development, health and learning process, based on theoretical knowledge and educational standards.

Work is credited if:

  • the essay shall be 800-1200 words;
  • at least 4 scientific or regulatory sources have been used;
  • clearly justified importance of the hour of sport and health;
  • the work has been submitted within the time period specified in the e-study environment.

Assessment criteria

  • quality of reasoning;
  • use of theoretical knowledge;
  • content logic and structure;
  • academic language and presentation.

Specific Class Sport and Health Programme and Thematic Plan

Test

Students in groups shall develop a programme of the study area “Health and physical activity” for a particular class on the basis of the State basic Education Standard (Cabinet No. 747) and the General secondary Education Standard (Cabinet No. 416), as well as establish a thematic plan for one semester in the selected class.

Work is credited if:

  • a class-specific programme has been developed;
  • formulate the results to be achieved according to the standard;
  • a thematic plan for one semester has been established;
  • the work has been developed in a group and presented in due course;
  • the work has been submitted within the time period specified in the e-study environment.

Assessment criteria

  • compliance with educational standards;
  • accuracy of results to be achieved;
  • logic and sequence of the thematic plan;
  • relevance of content to the age stage;
  • quality of cooperation in the work of the group.

Thought card - “Sport and Health hour” of the year

The student individually develops a visual material – a thought card or reminder – in which the main components of a sports and health lesson are structured: objectives, tasks, content, means, rolling skills, health and safety aspects.

Work is credited if:

  • all essential hourly components are included;
  • the information shall be structured and transparent;
  • the content corresponds to the theoretical knowledge acquired in the study course;
  • the work has been submitted within the deadline, in e-studies.

Evaluation criteria

  • content completeness;
  • correct use of concepts and components;
  • information structurality;
  • visual transparency.

4.

Sports and Health class Conspectus

Test

On an individual basis, on the basis of the programme and thematic plan of the particular class, the student shall draw up a contemplation of the hour of sport and health, including the tasks, content and theoretical justification of the parts of the hour (physiological, psychological, pedagogical, translational aspects of skills).

Work is credited if:

  • a full hourly account has been developed;
  • formulated hourly deliverables;
  • an appropriate hourly structure is included;
  • shows exercises, organization shapes, and load schedules;
  • theoretical justification given;
  • the work has been submitted within the deadline.

Assessment criteria

  • The logic and structure of the hourly plan;
  • consistency of the results to be achieved with the content;
  • compliance of exercise and work forms with age;
  • the quality of the theoretical justification;
  • methodological/terminological precision.

Health-promoting exercises

Test

Students in pairs develop and present a set of health-promoting exercises (7 exercises) for different age stages, justifying the choice of exercises from a physiology and biomechanics perspective.

Work is credited if:

  • 7 exercises developed and conducted;
  • exercises adapted to a specific age stage;
  • theoretical justification given;
  • an oral presentation has taken place;
  • the work has been submitted within the deadline.

Assessment criteria

  • fitness of exercises to task;
  • age compliance;
  • accuracy of theoretical justification;
  • quality of presentation;
  • methodological validity.

6.

Translational skill Task Video

5.00% from total grade
Test

Students in groups (3-4 people) shall create video material demonstrating physical activity tasks with an emphasis on promoting translational skills in an hour of sport and health based on the achievable results of the particular level of education.

Work is credited if:

  • video material created;
  • the relationship with translational skills is clearly demonstrated;
  • the content is based on the achievable results of a particular degree of education;
  • a video presentation has taken place;
  • the work has been submitted within the deadline.

Evaluation criteria

  • relevance of content to achievable results;
  • quality of integration of rolling skills;
  • methodological validity;
  • quality of digital solution;
  • collaboration within a group.

7.

Development of exercises for the development of physical properties

Test

Students in pairs develop and present three exercises to develop one physical characteristic with a specific form of expression for grades 7, 9 and 12.

Work shall be credited if:

  • 3 exercises have been developed;
  • exercises are intended for different stages of education;
  • reasonable selection of exercises;
  • presentation carried out;
  • work submitted within the prescribed time limit.

Assessment criteria

  • fitness of exercise to physical characteristics;
  • adaptation to age;
  • methodological justification;
  • presentation quality;
  • collaboration in pairs.

8.

Circle training

Test

Students in groups of 3 shall develop an interactive circle training with a specific objective and specific age, as well as establish control exercises for the determination and evaluation of individual physical readiness.

Work is credited if:

  • development of lap training with clear purpose;
  • a specific target group and age stage;
  • control exercises developed;
  • practical demonstration carried out;
  • the work has been submitted within the deadline.

Assessment criteria

  • Circle training structure and logic;
  • validity of load layout;
  • safety observance;
  • compliance of control exercises;
  • quality of practical demonstration.

Development of valuation examples

Test

Students in groups develop examples of evaluation of student performance for a particular class and specific skills, as well as create self-assessment maps for assessment of the study course “pre-school and school sports didactic”.

Work is credited if:

  • examples of assessment for specific skills have been developed;
  • certain criteria and performance levels;
  • self-assessment card created;
  • presentation of the work;
  • the work has been submitted within the deadline.

Students shall individually establish a professional portfolio of the teacher in which materials developed during the study course and practical implementation steps for commencement of pedagogical activity in practice are compiled.

Work is credited if:

  • the portfolio shall include the essential materials developed during the course;
  • added reflection on professional development;
  • include examples of training planning, evaluation and security aspects;
  • portfolio submitted by deadline.

Evaluation criteria

  • portfolio completeness;
  • material quality and relevance to course content;
  • depth of reflection;
  • professional structurality;
  • practical applicability to pedagogical activity.

A written face-to-face examination of theoretical, methodological and research content acquired in the course. In the examination, students shall draw up a sports and health lesson report according to the drawn parameters: class, result attainable to students, translational skill and example of formal evaluation. Students justify the choice of part of an hour and exercise from a physiological, psychological and pedagogical point of view.

An examination shall be credited if:

  • a full hourly account has been developed;
  • correct formulation of the results to be achieved;
  • a reasonable choice of exercises and forms of work;
  • an example of formal evaluation is included;
  • respect for safety principles;
  • theoretical justification provided.

The assessment criteria

  • for compliance with the drawn parameters;
  • the methodological quality of the hourly plan;
  • accuracy of the theoretical justification;
