About Study Course
Objective
Introduce the basics of statistical data processing, statistical methods, and their applications, develop the skill to process and analyze data obtained in psychological research, and interpret the results.
Preliminary Knowledge
General psychology, knowledge of information and mathematics corresponding to the level of secondary education.
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
1.Students define mathematical statistics basic concepts, recognize the formulas, describe mathematical statistics techniques and methods, name and describe data analysis basic principles in program SPSS.
2.Knowledge of data types and measurement scales
3.Know what empirical distributions are, their statistical characteristics and graphic representations,
4.Understand the testing of statistical tests
5.Differences between parametric and non-parametric tests
Skills
1.Students can process data and analyze statistical indicators, make correct conclusions
2.Knows how to enter and encode data
3.Is able to calculate empirical distributions, their statistical characteristics and is able to create graphic representations
4.Knows how to evaluate population parameters
5.Steps for testing statistical hypotheses
6.Know how to run t tests, ANOVA
7.Learn to draw up study results in APA style in tables and images
Competences
1.Students are able to decide the use of appropriate data processing methods in each situation impose to prove hypothesis or research question clarification
2.According to measurement level use of Measures of Central Tendency, Dispersion, Skewness, and Kurtosis
3.Understand where to choose t Test or ANOVA
4.Choose the appropriate parametric or non-parametric test
5.Know where the hi-square test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test are used
6.Understand when correlation analysis should be used
7.Select and perform regression analysis as required by the study
8.Learn how to choose methods for studying non-parametric relationships
9.Learn how to apply factor analysis to psychology studies
