About Study Course

Objective

Acquire knowledge and skills on the use of a variety of trainers, free weights and dumbbells, acquire the relevant terminology, as well as the techniques and safety principles for exercising, providing the basis for professional activities in the field of health sports.

Preliminary Knowledge

Basic knowledge of anatomy of the human support and motion apparatus, physiological and biochemical processes of physical load, as well as basic principles of biomechanics and kinesiology of human movement are required. The student should be able to identify the main muscle groups and their functions during movement, as well as understand the health effects of physical activity and the basic principles of safe load.

Prior to the completion of the study course, the student shall have the following pre-knowledge:

Knowledge:

  • on the anatomy of the human support and movement apparatus (main muscle groups, joints, planes and directions of motion);
  • on physiological basics of physical exercise (muscle function, energy supply during load, adaptation of the body to load);
  • on the impact of physical activity on health and basic principles of health-promoting physical activity;
  • on the basic principles of biomechanics and kinesiology of human movement.

Skills:

  • identify the main muscle groups and their functions during movement;
  • to recognise and describe basic types of movement in the performance of physical exercises;
  • analyse simple physical activity from the point of view of biomechanics and load effects.

Competencies: ability

  • to apply basic knowledge of human movement and exercise to understand the principles and safety aspects of exercise performance in a fitness environment.

Within the framework of independent work, the student analyses the principles of exercise performance, acquires and uses professional terminology, as well as reinforces theoretical knowledge in preparation for practical classes and study course examinations.

Students attend a course lecture and classes. During classes, all training and training tasks must be fulfilled and the lesson form to be submitted to the e-learning environment after the last lesson must be completed accurately.

Individual test with HUR trainers

In the individual examination, the student must be able to name THE HUR trainers and the exercises to be performed on them in the correct terminology; name the muscle groups loaded on the machine; show adjustments to the machine according to the size of the client and demonstrate exercises.

  • correct use of HUR exercise and exercise titles in professional terminology.
  • Ability to identify and name key muscle groups that are stressed during exercise.
  • Correct adjustment of the trainer according to the client’s height and safety requirements.
  • Demonstrating a proper and technically correct exercise.
  • A clear sequence of actions and respect for safety principles.

Individual test with Technogym trainers

Examination equipment in the work environment (fitness room), the student names the Technogym trainers and the exercises to be performed on them in correct terminology, names the muscle groups loaded on the respective exercise equipment, shows the adjustments of the exercise equipment according to the size of the client and demonstrates the exercises.

  • Correct adjustment of the trainer according to the client’s height and safety requirements.

Individual test with dumbbells and free weights

The student demonstrates exercises using free weights and dumbbells, according to a terminological description. The student should be able to tell them about the specifics of the exercises, the busy muscle groups, their workload depending on different bodily conditions.

The terminological descriptions of the exercises are given in advance.

Assessment criteria

  • correct understanding of exercise terminology and choice of appropriate exercise by terminological description.
  • Demonstrating a technically correct and safe exercise with free weights or dumbbells.
  • Ability to identify and name key muscle groups that are stressed during exercise.
  • Ability to characterize the performance specifics of the exercise and explain changes in muscle load depending on body condition.
  • Clear sequence of actions and adherence to safety principles during the exercise demonstration.

Theoretical test

The student must answer in writing and one theory question.

In order to take the theoretical examination, the student must pass all individual examinations and submit all classes forms.

Evaluation criteria

  • The relevance of the response content to the theory question asked.
  • Understanding and correct explanation of theoretical knowledge of the study course.
  • Correct use of professional terminology.
  • Ability to structure and argue the answer logically.
  • Completeness and accuracy of the answer.
