Knowledge
1.The student will know: • Symptoms of acute intoxications, diagnostic and treatment methods: poisoning with FOS, sedatives and other drugs (paracetamol, amphetamine, anticholinergic drugs, anticonvulsants, antidepressants, antihypertensive drugs, digitalis, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, neuroleptics), narcotic substances, acids, alkalis, chlorocarbons , carbon monoxide, alcohol and its surrogates, heavy metals, plant poisons, fungi, methemoglobin forming substances and hemolytic poisons. • Symptoms and principles of treatment of venomous snake bites.
Skills
1.1. Apply practical methods of poisonous substance elimination in the prehospital and hospital Admission Department’s phase – stomach lavage, forced diuresis, application of antidotes, where applicable. 2. Commence symptomatic treatment in the prehospital and hospital Admission Department’s phase.
Competences
1.Provide emergency medical assistance in cases of exogenous intoxication.
