About Study Course

Objective

The core objective is to acquaint doctoral students with types of research work, research and teaching activities in political science and management, with the procedure for the publication of an article, with the topic of doctoral thesis in international scientific editions and in peer-reviewed scientific journals in Latvia.

Preliminary Knowledge

Knowledge of politics, management science or international relations at a master level.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.As a result of completing the course, the doctoral student will have acquired knowledge of research work and its types, will have extended knowledge of the chosen topic for doctoral thesis, as well as will have gained research experience.

Skills

1.Ability to carry out scientific work; ability to draw up the research results; scientific discussion ability on issues of politics and management science; ability to structure the material to be presented.

Competences

1.Special and professional competence in politics and management science, including subject matter competence, organisational and methodological competence, analytical and evaluative competence, research competence and information competence.

While taking the course the doctoral student shall be involved in organisation of scientific seminars and conferences or shall participate in them, in preparation and publication of scientific articles on the issues studied in the doctoral thesis and in implementation of Latvian and international research projects. The student's contribution to the improvement of the study process is the provision of meaningful feedback on the study course by filling out its evaluation questionnaire.
