About Study Course
Objective
Promote students’ understanding of sport and health-enhancing physical activities, the fundamentals of long-term training process design, types of preparation, the theory of physical qualities, and the development of physical qualities in sport.
Preliminary Knowledge
Knowledge of anatomy of the active and passive components of the musculoskeletal system and the principles of their functioning; modes of muscle action and muscle contraction; knowledge of biochemistry related to ATP resynthesis; and knowledge of physiology concerning brain function and motor innervation.

Based on the material from Lecture 1, select two complex (multi-joint) movements or sport-specific exercises from your own sport. The selected exercises/movements must be recorded on video. Using video-editing software, divide the recorded material into the preparatory, main, and final phases. During the video presentation, you must be able to justify the division of the movement into these phases. You must also be able to comment on the stages of learning the selected movements, including the key phase of the movement and its technical details. Note: The material must be created by you. The use of third-party resources, including videos available online, is not permitted. You must be clearly visible in the video, and the submitted video must not have been previously assessed. If any of the above requirements are not met, the independent assignment will not be accepted. |

Select five exercises from your own sport that are typically used in high-volume training. Record each exercise on video. Using the lecture material as a basis, modify the same five exercises by increasing their intensity so that they can be used in high-intensity training, and record these modified versions as well. For each exercise, you must be able to identify and justify the units used to quantify training volume and intensity. You must also be able to explain how the relationship between training volume and intensity is applied within the training process. Note: The material must be created by you. The use of third-party resources, including videos available online, is not permitted. You are not required to be personally visible in the video. The submitted video must not have been previously assessed. If any of the above requirements are not met, the independent assignment will not be accepted. |

3.
Methods of movement development |

Select and record two exercises or movement elements from your own sport that are typically taught by the coach using the whole method. Justify the use of the whole method and specify the situations and prerequisite skills or prior knowledge for which this method is appropriate. In addition, select two exercises or movement elements that are taught using the part method. First, record the complete exercise or movement to provide an overall representation of the skill, and then record the individual parts used in the teaching process. These parts must be performed as actual learning exercises or drills; it is not acceptable to record the complete movement and subsequently divide it into sections using video-editing software. You must justify why the exercise or movement element is divided into these specific parts, explain the learning objective addressed by each part, describe how the separate parts are progressively integrated into the complete movement, and specify the appropriate practice volume required for learning the movement. Note: The material must be created by you. The use of third-party resources, including videos available online, is not permitted. You are not required to be personally visible in the video. 4.
Skill and habit in sports |

Select two exercises or movement elements from your own sport. Ask a person who is able to perform these movements at the motor skill level to execute them. Based on the lecture material, describe the performance shown in the video and justify the identified level of motor skill development using the criteria and characteristic features presented in the lecture. Then ask another person, who is able to perform the same two exercises or movement elements at the motor habit (automatized skill) level, to execute them. Analyse and describe the performance on the basis of the lecture material and justify the identified level of motor skill development according to the criteria and characteristic features presented in the lecture. Note: The material must be created by you. The use of third-party resources, including videos available online, is not permitted. You are not required to be personally visible in the video. 5.
Special endurance in sports |

Based on the lecture material, record five exercises from your own sport aimed at developing sport-specific endurance. The exercises must be presented with a justification of how their application contributes to competitive performance and/or to the specific manifestations of endurance required in the sport. The training dosage for each exercise must also be specified and justified, demonstrating that the exercise and its workload are actually directed towards endurance development rather than, for example, merely increasing movement frequency. Note: The material must be created by you. The use of third-party resources, including videos available online, is not permitted. You are not required to be personally visible in the video. The submitted video must not have been previously assessed. If any of the above requirements are not met, the independent assignment will not be accepted. |

6.
Development of strength in sport |

Record a movement element or exercise from your own sport in which maximal strength is a primary performance requirement. Then record five exercises aimed at developing maximal strength. During the presentation, provide a justification for the use of each exercise in the training process and/or in sport-specific competitive performance. The appropriate training dosage for each exercise must also be specified, taking into account different levels of physical preparedness and age groups. Note: The material must be created by you. The use of third-party resources, including videos available online, is not permitted. You are not required to be personally visible in the video. 7.
Speed development in sports |

Record a movement from your own sport that requires the highest possible movement speed. Then record five sport-specific exercises aimed at developing speed, ensuring that the exercises comply with the conditions for speed development specified in the lecture material. Exercises primarily aimed at developing strength or other physical abilities must not be used. During the presentation, you must identify which of the specified speed-development conditions are met by each exercise and explain which component or manifestation of speed the exercise is intended to develop. Note: The material must be created by you. The use of third-party resources, including videos available online, is not permitted. You are not required to be personally visible in the video. 8.
Agility in sport |

Select one type of agility and record five exercises from your own sport aimed at developing that specific type of agility. You must justify the relevance and practical value of each exercise for competitive performance and/or the training process. The written assessment consists of 10 open-ended questions requiring free-form written responses. The questions cover the following topics: the concept of sport theory, physical exercise and its definition, general and sport-specific preparation, adaptation, training load and its application in sports training planning, training methods, and levels of motor skill acquisition. Students are required to know the definitions of these concepts, demonstrate an understanding of their theoretical meaning, and explain their practical application in the training process. Each correctly answered question is worth 1 point. If the required definition is missing, the question is considered unanswered and receives 0 points. If the answer includes the definition but does not sufficiently demonstrate understanding and/or practical application, the question is awarded 0.5 points. The written assessment may be taken twice, with the second attempt taking place at a time designated by the lecturer. The third attempt must be taken orally, with the assessment time agreed upon in advance with the lecturer. |

The assessment consists of 10 open-ended questions requiring students to provide definitions and explanations of all physical abilities, including their types, forms of manifestation, components, and principles and methods of development. Students are required to know the definitions of these concepts, demonstrate an understanding of their theoretical meaning, and explain their practical application in the training process. Each correctly answered question is worth 1 point. If the required definition is missing, the question is considered unanswered. If the answer includes the definition but does not sufficiently demonstrate understanding and/or practical application, the question is awarded 0.5 points. The written assessment may be taken twice. The second attempt takes place at a time designated by the lecturer. A third attempt must be completed orally, with the examination time agreed upon in advance with the lecturer. The final grade for the study course is based on a cumulative examination. The final grade is determined on the basis of successful completion of all independent assignments and the average grade obtained from the two assessments. A minimum grade of 5 must be achieved in each assessment. Independent assignments may be completed during any subsequent session designated for the assessment of independent work, subject to prior agreement with the lecturer. Independent assignments and written assessments are considered interim assessments. |
