About Study Course

Objective

To promote students’ understanding of the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities for the activities of the manager by learning the process of managing sporting events, their legal framework, planning, implementing and analysing the conduct of sporting events, motivating students to engage in the management of sporting events, respecting sports ethics, practising respectful and fair treatment in communication.

Preliminary Knowledge

Successful completion of the study course and utilisation of acquired knowledge, skills and competences requires foreground in communication, job planning, organisation and project development

Independent work - develop a project for a sports event (term plan, staff plan, estimate, feature plan) The student must develop the plan in the Excel table. The research work prepared during the lesson should be presented.

Characterisation of the activities of a sports organisation (ethical and legal aspects)

10.00% from total grade
10 points

Independent work - to study and analyse the legal framework for the operation of one particular sports organisation in the planning and organisation of competitions.

The presentation shall include: the research on the organisation of sports (objectives, tasks, articles of association, by-laws), the normative documents governing the organisation of competitions. It shall be analysed whether the sports organisation also refers to the guidelines contained in the provisions of the World Anti-Doping Code in creating a safe competitive environment for sports participants, sports specialists, sports organisers.

Rating: presentation up to 5-7 mins The student is familiar with and understands the collected information relevant to the specific activities of the sports organisation in organising sports competitions and sporting events.

Attendance, evaluation of a sporting event

Independent work - student performs a detailed evaluation of the sporting event.

Participate as a volunteer in 3 sports events.

Finding the opportunity to help organise a sporting event independently for the student. To submit a description of the event, to keep records and analyses of the duties, to collect lessons learned, to make suggestions to the organisers of the event by completing the E-studies form.

Preparation of sporting events

15.00% from total grade
10 points

Independent work - prepare a presentation on your volunteering experience.

Evaluation: presentation (10-15 mins), description: collect your experience through volunteering, draw conclusions and carry out SVID analysis. Provide concrete solutions to correct weaknesses, indicate the causes of their occurrence. To justify the importance of volunteering - points out positive aspects and weaknesses and base their analysis on their own experience. Presentation material - visually attractive, informative and illustrative.

1. Compare and assess the guidelines and contradictions set out in the codes, which are most often not respected when organising competitions and sporting events.

2. Situation analysis - students in the group critically evaluate ethical dilemmas offered by the lecturer. Assess and explain the ethical aspects of sport

3. Rights, duties and responsibilities of sports managers. Students shall analyse regulatory documents explaining and justifying the rights and duties of sports specialists.

In preparation for seminars, students shall study literature and other documents on the instructions of the lecturer.
