About Study Course

Objective

Describe the principles of maintaining homeostasis in an organism.

Explain the mechanisms of cell membrane transport and their role in maintaining organism functions.

Describe the mechanisms of neural and humoral regulation in the human body.

Describe the physiological functions of the cardiovascular system.

Explain the basic principles of the respiratory system and the mechanisms of gas exchange.

Describe the role of the kidneys in regulating the body's water, electrolyte, and acid-base balance.

Describe the functions of the digestive system and the processes of nutrient absorption.

Describe the mechanisms of action of hormones in the endocrine system.

Explain the physiological mechanisms of muscle contraction.

Interpret changes in key physiological parameters in various functional states.

Preliminary Knowledge

To start the study course, it is necessary to understand the anatomical structure of the human body, the functions of cells and tissues, the chemical processes in the body, and the ability to use medical terminology to describe the state of health.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.After successful completion of the course the student will be able to: speek about the functioning of the organism and and to get aquainted with periods of individual development and changes in the organism related to growth, aging and environmental influence. Students must know about the normal function of organs and organism as well as how to differentiate normal functions from pathological ones, how to regulate organs for normalizing their functions.

Skills

1.Students should know how to apply their theoretical knowledge and how to use most common investigation methods in medicine.

Competences

1.During the independent work of practical lessons, students learn practical skills, get acquainted with health assessment methods, perform calculations and data processing independently. The task is to strengthen theoretical knowledge, to learn the methodology of assessing an individual's health.
