About Study Course
Objective
The purpose and specifics of the internship – to combine students' theoretical knowledge with latest trends in the provision of health sector, health care institutions or digitization area.
Preliminary Knowledge
Professional practice refers to students who, after the 1st year of study, are competent to implement a certain development project in companies or organizations in the healthcare sector operating in Latvia or abroad. The task of the internship is to link the knowledge and skills acquired within the study program with the real situation in companies and organizations, as well as to improve communication and social skills.
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge
1.Students will obtain knowledge on: • validation of theoretical knowledge in the field of healthcare; • tasks related to the goal of the internship; • the organization's activities in the field; • and practical skills in performing internship tasks.
Skills
1.The student acquires skills: • application of theoretical knowledge in the evaluation of the operation of a specific organization (system); • selection and application of appropriate analytical tools and methods of analysis; • development and implementation of a specific project; • implementing change management principles.
Competences
1.The student acquires competence: • practical skills in project implementation; • avoiding conclusions and proposals in the specific field; • preparation of documentation of practice progress, achieved goals and tasks, and presentation of results to the audience.

Student placement shall be assessed by a Commission established in an institution of higher education. The Commission shall evaluate the placement reports of the student and the presentation of all submitted documents in accordance with the above requirements, the company’s feedback and student presentation skills. The assessment shall consist of: presentation (presentation) (40%); report (50%); assessment of the undertaking or organisation (10%). Deadline for submission of the report: under the annual programme to be approved. |
