About Study Course

Objective

To acquire the necessary skills and knowledge, in the use of appropriate terminology, leading and describing various exercises, exercise complexes. To build communicative competences for functioning in the academic and professional environment.

Preliminary Knowledge

In Anatomy and Physiology. Knowledge and skills of the English language in the scope of the secondary school course. Knowledge of the Russian language at a conversational level.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Will know: • tell about exercise application in health promotion; • describe gymnastic tasks and methodological peculiarities; • name the basic principles of gymnastics terminology; • define what the term is, terminology; • name the terms of the exercise terminology; • specify the basic principles of exercise control when running an exercise complex; • explain the correct performance of exercises and to name the most common mistakes when performing exercises; • display and name the terminology of palms, straight arms and bent arms, posture, sitting, reclining positions and supports; • describe your professional field; • choose appropriate vocabulary when giving exercise instructions; • choose appropriate vocabulary to discuss fitness trends; • express your opinion and support it with research data.

Skills

1.Will know: • communicate effectively with clients; • explain correct execution of exercises; • use appropriate terminology in own practice when managing gymnastic complexes; • describe the exercises according to the rules of the exercise terminology; • design and describe exercise sets for a specific target audience; • apply strength and stretching exercises to a particular muscle, muscle group; • read and interpret data from various studies; • terminologically correctly formulate the annotation of the research paper.

Competences

1.After successfully completing the study course program, the student will be able to practically use the acquired terminology in various communicative situations. To use appropriate terms to guide exercise classes and explain exercise performance, describe exercises according to exercise description rules, create exercise programmes for different target audiences following the basic principles and goals of exercise control.

Learning the lexical minimum of each topic, regularly completing homework, discussing the completed work in the audience, preparing and presenting reports, working with dictionaries, supplementary materials and Internet resources for a deeper understanding of terms, reading research articles and writing summaries. Compose and describe various gymnastic complexes using appropriate terminology. Prepare exercises with and without inventory to demonstrate to the group.

Exam, which consists of an oral answer to one theory question (20%) and a practical part, the ability to demonstrate exercises (20%) using appropriate terms (30%) and to explain the correct execution of exercises (15%), to create variations of exercises (section gymnastics terminology) (15%).
