About Study Course

Objective

To provide an effective acquisition of actions for various patient (victim's) health and life critical situations, both in clinical practice, with the use of available medical equipment, as well as outside the clinic, until a doctor or EMA service team arrives at the emergency scene.

Preliminary Knowledge

Human anatomy, physiology, propaedeutics in internal diseases, clinical pharmacology, clinical care, theoretical knowledge, and practical skills were acquired in the course "Civil and Environmental Protection, First Aid".

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.If study course is successfully learned, students will be able to describe the theoretical basis of methods and algorithms for EMA.

Skills

1.Students will be able to perform basic algorithms of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and elements of advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (defibrillation method, automatic external defibrillation, airway management, manual and simple instrumental methods of artificial lung ventilation with anesthetic apparatus and bag-valve-mask ventilation), to provide emergency medical care in the acute cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, pediatrics, endocrinology, as well as to pregnant women and woman in post-natal period. Handle allergies and take action in case of anaphylactic shock. Navigate EMA stage procedures.

Competences

1.Students will be able to provide emergency medical care, using acquired techniques and manipulation in rational and efficient way, as well as the use of available human and equipment resources.

Assessment

Individual work

Grade
1.

Individual work

-
-
Preparing presentations on first aid, using the recommended literature and internet sources, following evaluation and analysis in practical lessons. In order to evaluate the quality of the study course as a whole, the student must fill out the study course evaluation questionnaire on the Student Portal.

Examination

Examination

-
-
Examination – a test and oral questions about course topics and the task of the basic algorithms of resuscitation on training dummies. Evaluation criteria for the theoretical multiple choice test – more than 75% correct answers. Evaluation criteria during cardio-pulmonary intensive care – to know and practically perform basic algorithm of resuscitation by assessing the safety of the surroundings, examination for consciousness, getting help, clearing of airways, checking breathing, chest compressions, artificial lung ventilation with a bag-valve-mask.
