About Study Course

Objective

To gain knowledge about work of multidisciplinary team in rehabilitation, the competencies and roles of each member.

Preliminary Knowledge

Of professional study courses according to the specialisation of each student, assessment and classification of functional capacity limitations.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.On successful course completion students will have knowledge about rehabilitation services in Latvia, Rehabilitation problem solving form, goal setting in rehabilitation, medical practitioner competencies and cooperation in a rehabilitation team, rehabilitation technologies.

Skills

1.On successful course completion students will be able to analyse clinical cases using the basic principles of ICF and the ICF core sets, will explain the basic principles of functional capability assessment within the rehabilitation team, will be able to cooperate within the rehabilitation team and set long-term and short-term rehabilitation goals, will be able to participate in planning an individual rehabilitation plan, will be able to plan rehabilitation technologies and evaluate rehabilitation results.

Competences

1.On successful course completion students will be able to use the acquired knowledge and skills in interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams.

Report of clinical case analysis: Patient Assessment (Standardised Measurements) and Rehabilitation Problem Solving Form (Steiner et al, 2002). Rehabilitation goals (long-term, short-term). Characteristics of the team of rehabilitation specialists (specialist competencies, roles in teamwork, rehabilitation technologies). Need for technical aids (Tehnical aid form) and provision of technical aids. Evaluation of rehabilitation results. Recommendations. Continuation of rehabilitation services.
