About Study Course

Objective

Theoretically and practically acquire basic knowledge about health behavior and motivation, factors affecting it, develop communication skills using motivational interviewing for promoting health behavior and changing the patient's health behavior in the context of the profession.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students define health behaviour, motivation and motivational interview and its basic principles, formulate indications for motivational interview, describe similarities and differences for motivational interview for patients of different ages and personality types in the group and individually. Understand health behaviour patterns, understand the relationship between motivation and health behaviour. Name the basic skills required for the motivational interview, its phases and the possible difficulties and resources in each of them. Know different approaches to health behaviour promotion.

1.Apply motivational interview skills according to the structure of the motivational interview. Integrate the acquired theoretical knowledge in practical tasks. Analyse own and other students' work in the study process in simulation situations.

Competences

1.Uses communication skills and motivational interview skills, methods and techniques in a structured task independently. Analyses the basic skills of their motivational interview by doing independent work, filling in the self-reflection sheet. Justifies your opinion with theoretical knowledge. Is able to substantiate and discuss the application of the acquired knowledge and skills in a professional environment.

Independent learning of theoretical sources of literature. Preparing for the test. Preparing to apply motivational interviewing skills in a study group assignment and final paper. In order to evaluate the quality of the study course as a whole, the student must fill out the study course evaluation questionnaire on the Student Portal.

In collaboration with a member of the group or volunteer, a 15-minute motivational interview has been conducted in the patient about changing a habit/habit related to the profession using the knowledge and skills acquired in the classes. An audio/video recording of 10 min is played optionally in the lesson. Student analyses successful and refined interventions.
