About Study Course

Objective

The aim of the study course is to offer students a modern perspective on the development of rights and globalisation, so-called analysis of theoretical and methodological issues of interpretation of detailed legal norms. It looks at the interplay between national, European Union and international law, as well as the impact of sources of law on the application and interpretation of legal provisions. Particular attention is paid to contemporary interpretative approaches, national and European Court of Justice case-law and the role of comparative law in the interpretation process.

The study course promotes students’ ability to independently and critically analyse complex problems of interpretation of rights, as well as to assess the impact of globalisation on the development of rights.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Students know the diversity of modern law and understanding of globalization, are familiar with theories, approaches and methods of interpreting rights.

2.Students are familiar with the mechanisms of interaction between national, European and international legal systems and their impact on rights and interpretation of legal provisions.

Skills

1.Able to independently and critically analyse complex legal issues requiring the combined application of a number of legal sources and interpretative methods.

2.Is able to interpret national law in a reasoned manner in the light of international and European law and case-law.

Competences

1.Legally sound and methodologically measured decisions shall be taken on a case-by-case basis.

2.Formulate an academic opinion based on legal doctrine, case law, principles and norms of law.
