About Study Course

Objective

To create an interest in track and field, to give an idea of track and field disciplines and to give an opportunity to learn the foundations of track and field discipline technique. To provide knowledge and opportunity to learn the foundations of teaching track and field disciplines included in the general secondary education study subject standard “Sport” in primary, basic and secondary school. Learn the foundations of judging track and field competitions.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge

1.Knows the foundations of theory of track and field discipline techniques and competition rules Methodology for teaching techniques and tactics of track and field disciplines (teaching methods, study aids, forms of organisation of sports classes). Formative, summative assessment and self-assessment in learning track and field exercises.

Skills

1.Able to demonstrate special exercises for athletes and track and field running, jumping and throwing disciplines. Demonstrates different movement methods (walking, running, jumping) and movement of objects (throwing) at all levels of education. Practically plans, leads track and field exercises and assesses their learning in accordance with state pre-school education guidelines, the requirements of the state basic education standard and the state secondary education standard in the field of studies. Demonstrates the skills learned in modified track and field discipline competitions.

Competences

1.Able to apply theoretical knowledge in practice and independently choose exercises suitable for teaching and choose appropriate exercise dosage. Able to assess skills and competences. Able to judge competitions independently in various track and field disciplines at school. Able to take responsibility for classes with track and field exercises and safety of events at school. Able to establish clear performance and growth assessment criteria and testing methods for students.

Types of examinations (Assessment): Demonstration of movement learning (at the end of learning each track and field discipline 1-10 points); Quality of records (at the end of learning each track and field discipline 1-5 points); Pedagogical skills (1-2 x academic year 1-10 points); Referee practice (test at the end of learning each track and field discipline 1-10 points); Examination (at the end of the study course 1-10 points).
